Weekend Loves

We hope you’re all having a nice, relaxing Sunday!

Over the weekend we often list a few vintage pieces in our shop that don’t really fit into whatever theme we might be planning at the time. If you follow us on Facebook or Twitter, you’ll still get a heads up that there is something new to check out, but we rarely bother with them on the blog. This weekend, however, we’ve listed two pieces that we really wanted to keep for ourselves! We love them so much that we thought they deserved a little extra attention…

We have a few listings coming up this week that we thought we’d share with you! A few very lovely, ladylike hats from the 50’s and 60’s.

This felt fur Breton is already up:

Edwardian Era Fashion

Good morning! Did you have a good weekend? Score any estate sale finds perhaps?!

Just one-half of Lise + Katina here today, “Lise” if you will. As you might have noticed from our About page, the history and personal stories behind the vintage pieces that we stock are what drives me.  Whenever possible I like to know who owned our vintage loves and what significance they had to that person – but even if I don’t have a link to the original owner, I often do quite a bit of research about the era in which the piece was made. History shapes fashion more than we may sometimes realize, and there are plenty of stories to explain the reasoning behind dress cuts, popular colors, materials used, and so on. Fashion history is definitely something I can geek out over for hours at a time! :)

Take this brooch, for example. (Click the picture to view it in our shop, with more photos)

Spring Whites on Etsy

Bianca Shoes

This gallery contains 5 photos.

We had fun putting together our week of white accessories for Spring, for you! Now that everything is live in our shop, head on over to see the full info on each of them!

Spring Whites

Spring might not be in the air yet, but it is just around the corner, and our daydreams are definitely occupied with itty-bitty blooms and blue skies! We thought we’d try to get you in the mood too – with a week full of springtime accessories!

In selecting our pieces for this week we were inspired by the cheerful spring runway trends that feature shades of whites played up by pops of neon and bright pastels.

Loves for Less – Riding Jackets

Both of us at Lise and Katina have been finishing the last of our Christmas shopping this week (No, we’re definitely not the type to be done before Thanksgiving!), and, as always, one of our favorite places to find the perfect gifts is J. Crew. Everything Jenna Lyons touches is solid gold, as far as we’re concerned, and this hacking jacket is a standout classic:

Walk in the woods

Today we listed one of our favorite pieces that we have found, ever! Our Clover hat is the perfect little woodland-bohemian touch to any otherwise modern outfit.

How do you think it fits in with some of our other earth-toned beauties?

Cold December

We’ve been on a bit of a hiatus lately and with the holidays just around the corner we’ve been rushing around trying to find the perfect winter gifts. We’ve been eye-ing some of these lovely coats:

We wonder, what would happen if you combined all our favorite coats for the season into one incredibly timeless piece that embodied everything we’ve been searching for?

Lilli Ann Knit Sailor Mod Coat

You would end up with our favorite find of the season, Jacqueline. She is the perfect 1960’s Mod coat by designer Lilli Ann Knits. We fell in love and know you will too! You can visit her in our shop, here!

Now, usually in our “Loves for Less” posts we like to show you a vintage item that costs less than comparable new ones, but this piece is a bit different. The deal this time comes from our own price of this near perfect vintage coat compared to other similar ones from the same brand. As you can see from this Etsy search, we’re definitely giving you ours at a discount in hopes that it will find a deserving home with a lucky girl!

We’d love to hear – what vintage alternatives to modern styles are you in love with lately?

Thinking of you

It’s been a while since we have posted around here, or listed any new items! We just want to let you know we’re still here, and working hard on acquiring some fantastic new pieces to show you! We are back from a little hiatus, and we’ll be listing some new loves this week, just in time for the holidays.

To get you started, here is a perfect Christmas piece that will look just as cute after the season is over:

Silver Earrings

We know we said we would only be announcing our listings by Facebook this week, but this one deserves it’s own post.

This pair of earrings is one of those things that one of us falls in love with right away and wants to keep for ourselves, but in the end it turns out that it’s too wonderful not to share!

Xochi Earrings

The perfectly imperfect little sterling screw-backs are from the 1930’s-1940’s and were handcrafted in Mexico.

Xochi Earrings

We found them in the house of a woman who apparently had an old steamer trunk in her attic filled with items from the era. She had great taste, and we were sad to have to leave behind a number of lovely pieces of jewelry, and unique vintage housewares. We actually found our near-perfect condition “Madison” Coat in the same house. It’s amazing to us that someone could have a trunk full of treasures in their house, lovingly stored for so long. Were they forgotten about? Were they being saved for someone, or just for some special day? How long ago had they been packed up neatly and left on their own?

There is no way we can know the history behind such things, but we are certainly thankful to the woman who valued them enough to pack them away for us to enjoy years later.

You can view our “Xochi” earrings in our shop today.
