We found another line for Fall 2012 that screams vintage inspired at us in the best of ways. Burberry Prorsum is, honestly, one of our favorite lines every season. The parallels between London and Seattle when it comes to weather and fashion are very similar, and the Burberry line often speaks to our constant want for sensible articles of clothing without sacrificing style.
Good morning our vintage loving, blog reading, buddies out there!
As we mentioned yesterday, Fall 2012 is on the runways right now, and as new fashion is always a fresh take on something from the past, there are plenty of heavily vintage inspired collections out there this season as well! We will share our favorites with you as we come across, them and today we’re dying to hear if you love the Anna Sui show as much as we do!
It’s the craziest mash-up of the 1960’s trends that literally make us go *eep*!
Yesterday we talked to you about how much we love Michelle Williams and her vintage-inspired style. We showed you some of our favorites of her red carpet looks in which she wore current designers who have heavy retro influence in their collections. Today we want to gush over such designers who have been bringing a mid-century ladylike appearance back into style.
Now, we know the Fall 2012 shows are walking right now, but let’s just focus on the present, and talk about this spring, shall we?
Vintage loving girls like ourselves need style icons who aren’t afraid to revisit the past. Michelle Williams is everywhere right now, but you can be sure we (and you too, right?) have loved her since she was Jen Lindley – although we’re glad her style has grown up since then! Michelle is (almost) always the perfect intermediary between 1960’s mod fashion and the sleek, polished styles of today, with her perfect pixie haircut, a body like Twiggy, and a tendency towards black and white. Now, after her incredible portrayal of Marilyn Monroe, she can add 50’s pin-up to her repertoire as well.
Note the vintage-y details in some of her recent red carpet looks:

We hope you’re all having a nice, relaxing Sunday!
Over the weekend we often list a few vintage pieces in our shop that don’t really fit into whatever theme we might be planning at the time. If you follow us on Facebook or Twitter, you’ll still get a heads up that there is something new to check out, but we rarely bother with them on the blog. This weekend, however, we’ve listed two pieces that we really wanted to keep for ourselves! We love them so much that we thought they deserved a little extra attention…
We have a few listings coming up this week that we thought we’d share with you! A few very lovely, ladylike hats from the 50’s and 60’s.
This felt fur Breton is already up:

We had fun putting together our week of white accessories for Spring, for you! Now that everything is live in our shop, head on over to see the full info on each of them!
Spring might not be in the air yet, but it is just around the corner, and our daydreams are definitely occupied with itty-bitty blooms and blue skies! We thought we’d try to get you in the mood too – with a week full of springtime accessories!
In selecting our pieces for this week we were inspired by the cheerful spring runway trends that feature shades of whites played up by pops of neon and bright pastels.

We’ve been on a bit of a hiatus lately and with the holidays just around the corner we’ve been rushing around trying to find the perfect winter gifts. We’ve been eye-ing some of these lovely coats:
We wonder, what would happen if you combined all our favorite coats for the season into one incredibly timeless piece that embodied everything we’ve been searching for?
You would end up with our favorite find of the season, Jacqueline. She is the perfect 1960’s Mod coat by designer Lilli Ann Knits. We fell in love and know you will too! You can visit her in our shop, here!
Now, usually in our “Loves for Less” posts we like to show you a vintage item that costs less than comparable new ones, but this piece is a bit different. The deal this time comes from our own price of this near perfect vintage coat compared to other similar ones from the same brand. As you can see from this Etsy search, we’re definitely giving you ours at a discount in hopes that it will find a deserving home with a lucky girl!
We’d love to hear – what vintage alternatives to modern styles are you in love with lately?
